The highest government positions give their special invitation to award recipients who automatically receive priority under all order protocols. The recipient receives both a presidential signature and a medal following their Bharat Ratna award, according to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
A copper-made peepal leaf design serves as the Bharat Ratna medal. The copper lithograph measures 5.8 cm in length while its width is 4.7 cm with a 3.1 cm thickness. Platinum forms the shining sun which appears on top of this leaf. The outer parts of the peepal leaf receive a platinum finish.
The second section of the award features the Hindi text ‘Bharat Ratna’ displayed at its base. Sitting above the Ashoka pillar on its reverse side the phrase 'Satyamev Jayate' is inscribed.
The nation has only one authorized location for producing the Bharat Ratna award. The Government of India gives the Kolkata Mint authority for manufacturing this award. Master artisans dedicate their work to create this medal at its production site. Established in 1757, the Kolkata Mint has been manufacturing the Bharat Ratna since its inception.
The Government of India grants Kolkata Mint responsibility for producing numerous awards which include Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, Padma Shri and the Param Vir Chakra.
