Banker Commits Suicide by Jumping from Atal Setu Bridge Amid Work Stress

A 35-year-old banker from a well known Pune bank ended his life by jumping off the Atal Setu Bridge early Tuesday morning. The police report says that he had come from Pune to Mumbai to visit a relative. It’s assumed that work-related stress may have led him to this decision.

The banker name was as Alex Regi, a 35-year-old from Pimpri in Pune. He worked for a well-known bank. The event took place on Tuesday morning at 11:45 a.m., when he jumped from the Atal Setu Bridge.

The police, after speaking with family members, shared that Alex had come to Mumbai for a meeting. On Tuesday morning, he visited his father-in-law in Chembur and was heading back to Pune via the Atal Setu Bridge when he suddenly stopped and jumped. CCTV footage showed a car stopping on the bridge, which prompted the monitoring team to alert patrolling officers. The rescue team arrived quickly and recovered his body, which was later returned to his family, according to a police officer.

The body will be taken to Pune for the last rites after a prayer meet at a church in Chembur on Thursday.
