The interim government has already revoked the passports of Hasina & 96 others due to their alleged hand in enforced disappearances and the killings in July. In December, Bangladesh officially requested Hasina’s reconstruction to face trial on charges of mass killings during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, also known as the July-August uprising.
Bangladesh’s International Crimes Tribunal, earlier established to prosecute the collaborators of Pakistani troops during the 1971 Liberation War, has issued 2 arrest warrants so far, instructing authorities to apprehend her and ensure her court appearance by February 12. She is also accused of prosecuting disappearances during her 16-year rule.
Moreover, the High Court on Wednesday acquitted all of the 47 individuals convicted in a case related to an attack on a train carrying Hasina, then the opposition leader, in Ishwardi on September 23, 1994, as reported by the news agency.
A bench of Justices Muhammad Mahbub Ul Islam and Md Hamidur Rahman delivered the verdict after they reviewed the convicts' death references and jail appeals.
