The police managed to calm down the members of the right-wing group who threatened to stage a more “aggressive agitation” if any action was not taken regarding the situation within three days. On Friday, some Muslim students allegedly hosted an Iftar party on the grounds of college.
"Rishikul Ayurvedic College has historical importance. This medical college was established under Rishikul Vidyapeeth, established by Pandit Mahamana Madan Mohan Malviya. Students from all over the country come here to get medical education," Bajrang Dal representative Amit Kumar informed this to PTI.
Elaborating that such events organized by non-Hindus in Haridwar were against municipal corporation bylaws, Kumar said, "A conspiracy is being hatched in the religious city under Islamic Jihad. If the management does not initiate steps for the expulsion of the guilty students within three days, then the Bajrang Dal will be forced to escalate the protest."
The director of Rishikul Ayurvedic College, DC Singh, included that he had received a complaint regarding some students hosting a party on campus without recieving the administration's permission.
"Some students had brought food items there. We went and stopped the party," Singh stated. He added further that a committee of college faculty has been established to investigate the incident and prepare a report. In an another incident, Bajrang Dal activists protested on March 1 outside the residence of Konkani author Uday Bhembre over his remarks regarding Maratha king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj & his connections to Goa.
A particular group of activists held a peaceful demonstration outside the 87-year-old writer's home in Margao city of South Goa, denouncing his video which was titled as "Jagor," which he posted on social media, in which he criticized Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
