While attending an event recently, Navya Naveli Nanda, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan’s granddaughter said that she was trolled for accepting admission at IIM Ahmedabad. Another issue, which Navya, who is also an entrepreneur, addressed, was an idea that social media is a great platform that has helped a lot of people to be heard. She said that she understands she is privileged and does not feel threatened by what people have to say on social media.

When asked about trolling that she received after her IIM announcement, Navya responded, “Social media has been such an amazing tool that if utilised rightly has huge potential to make the required changes. If you want, since you mentioned IIM, I feel very lucky to be in such a wonderful institute sped. Navya also took her turn to reply to the trollers and said that she posts all she wants on social media and that is her decision.

“I have made an active decision to put myself out there, to put work out there,” she said and continued: “I do not think I can be against or offended by things that people have to say.” Navya said comments on self or work related is essential for her to accept. It occurs for me to consider what people have to say about me and what I do. It will only help me being a better person, a better entrepreneur, a better Indian… Well, I believe the critical feedback should be taken in the right perspective and that is why I do not get offended by what people say, she added.

Navya then also confessed that she woke up in a fancy car, belongs to the elite class and that those meals are not what most families really eat. I also accept that I come from a very different lived reality to most people in India today. I am also so fortunate and I have been privileged so much than other young women of my age. People, I suppose, will always get something to say on that one.

Well, of course, I should always remain open to everything anyone has to say and try to take the best of that to myself and my work so I try not to seldom delve on what negative things people have got to say. I actually use it to do the best I can,” she said. Earlier this month Navya declared that she would be joining IIM Ahmedabad’s Blended Post Graduate Programme.
