175 Trains to be cancelled from 30 September, updates Western Railway

Western Railway announced speed restrictions between Ram Mandir Road and Malad stations from Monday onwards due to the ongoing construction of Lines 5 and 6 from Ram Mandir Road Station. According to the updates, the restrictions will be relaxed by 4 October.

The Western Railway (WR), in their weekly update on Sunday, announced a 30 km/h speed restriction between Ram Mandir Road, Goregaon and Malad Station. These restrictions are imposed due to the ongoing construction of Lines 5 and 6 from Ram Mandir onwards. The restrictions are taking place on all 4 lines, i.e. Up and Down slow lines and Up and Down fast lines.

Due to the speed restrictions, as many as 175 local trains are to be cancelled, impacting the commuter flow seriously. Since Goregaon has no looping route, all 4 fast trains are cancelled on Monday. According to officials, the restrictions will be relaxed by 4 October, barring any more restrictions on the time.

There have been changes made to the allocation of the Malad Station platform, "Last night (Saturday night) cut and connect work of 4th line, i.e. The UP fast line has been carried out from today (Sunday). The Platform for UP fast local has been changed, i.e. the earlier PF no 3 has now become PF no 4," an official said.

The Line 5 project is the extension of Line 5 from Khar to Borivali to help decongest the line that handles all trains from the Bandra Terminus. The Line 6 project is to serve both Long Distance Passenger trains and Suburban train services.
