Customs officials at Indira Gandhi International Airport in India seized 12 newly launched iPhone 16 Pro Max devices from four passengers who allegedly attempted to smuggle them into the country. The incident occurred on October 1, when the passengers arrived on an Indigo flight (6E-1464) from Dubai.

The iPhone 16 Pro Max is the highest-end model in Apple's latest smartphone series, which was launched worldwide last month.

Recently, customs officials at Delhi International Airport made another major seizure of high-end smartphones. On October 1, they confiscated 26 iPhone 16 Pro Max units that were hidden inside a vanity bag carried by a female passenger.

A woman in her late thirties was stopped by officials after arriving from Hong Kong. During a search of her and her luggage, customs officers found 26 iPhone 16 Pro Max devices hidden in her vanity bag, wrapped in tissue paper, according to a statement from the customs department.

The agency stated that the total tariff value of the seized iPhones was approximately Rs 30,66,328. The iPhone 16 Pro Max, Apple's flagship model, was launched worldwide last month. Along with 12 other phones valued at around Rs 14.15 lakhs, the total value of the seized items amounts to Rs 44,81,556.
