10 Newborn Babies Killed In Jhansi hospital Fire
At least 10 newborns perished in the blaze in the NICU of Maharashtra Laxmibai Medical College in Jhansi, UP the night before the DCP confirmed that 49 children were in the ward, which has 18 beds.
There are attempts being made to know their identities, and also to locate their family members.17 other children injured in the fire are now undergoing treatment in the emergency wing of the medical college and various private hospitals including that seven of them are in private hospitals.

Kanpur Zone Additional director general of police Alok Singh Speaking to agencies said 47 infants were in the ward at the time of the tragedy, 10 of which died and 37 others were saved.

"Heartbreaking! The fire accident at Jhansi Medical College in Uttar Pradesh is heart-wrenching. My deepest condolences to those who lost their innocent children in this. I pray to God to give them the strength to bear this immense loss," Modi was quoted as saying in a post in Hindi on X by the Prime Minister's Office.
"The local administration, under the supervision of the state government, is making every possible effort for relief and rescue," he said.
The Uttar Pradesh government has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the Jhansi tragedy. Yogi Adityanath, meanwhile, announced ₹5 lakh each to families of children who died and ₹50,000 to families of those injured in the fire incident.
