Netflix has announce that sharing password will no longer be allowed in India. They have said that one account can only be shared by one household. From June 20th the company will start sending email to the members who are sharing their Netflix account outside their household in India. According to the report the company will start taking action against the account who are sharing in India and it will also start on other countries like Indonesia, Croatia and Kenya from June 20th itself. This action is being taken for increasing the revenue of the company. Neflix has introduce a new feature paid sharing where people can pay an additional fee if they want to share their Netflix account with other people with whom they don't live with. Its a new approach by the company and this feature has yet not been introduce in India.
Netflix has released a statement regarding the matter: "A Netflix account is for use by one household. Everyone Living in that household can use Netflix wherever they are at home, on the go, on holiday and take advantage of new features like Transfer Profile and Manage Access and Devices. We recognise that our members have many entertainment choices. It is why we continue to invest heavily in a wide variety of new films and TV shows so whatever your taste, mood or language and whoever you are watching with, there is always something satisfying to watch on Netflix,"
Netflix had imposed restriction on password sharing in more than 100 countries
India is not the first country where the restriction will be imposed earlier in the year Netflix had imposed restriction on password sharing in more than 100 countries like United States, Britain,Germany,France,Singapore,Australia,Mexico and Brazil. Post the password sharing crackdown netflix has gained six million subscribers. Acording to the netflix report more than 100 million household were sharing their account. The SAG-AFTRA strike will effect Mainstraem media company if the matters would not be resolved soon. But according to the report Netflix is at better position. Netflix has also introduced "borrower" and "shared" accounts where subscribers will able to add extra viewers for higher price or can transfer viewing profile to new accounts. Ross Bennes, Insider Intelliegnce principle analyst said that " The decison to cut its basic tier is an effort to bolster advertising by elevating the price difference between its advertising and non-advertising tiers". According to the reports Netflix has total subscribers of 238 million and have earned a profit of Rs 12,309 crore approximately.
