Rashtrapati Bhavan which is very commonly known as the president's house is all set to host a wedding ceremony. CRPF Assistant Commandant Poonam Gupta, currently serving as a Personal Security Officer (PSO) at the President’s residence, will marry fellow CRPF officer Avnish Kumar on February 12, 2025. The ceremony will occur at the Mother Teresa Crown Complex, with only close family members in attendance under strict security measures.
Rashtrapati Bhavan is well known for hosting diplomatic events and numerous high-profile dignitaries over the years. Rashtrapati Bhavan is one of the most significant architectural landmarks located in New Delhi. This beautiful landmark was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, the estate covers 300 acres, with the main building extending over 200,000 square feet and housing 340 rooms across four floors. It is also said to be the second largest residence of any head of state worldwide, after Italy’s Quirinal Palace.
Who is Poonam Gupta?
Poonam Gupta is a dedicated and hard-working officer of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and has been chosen for this extraordinary honour due to her outstanding service, professionalism and commitment to the nation. Poonam is a graduate in Mathematics, after which she pursued her post-graduation in English literature followed by a B.Ed degree. She then applied and cleared the 2018 UPSC CAPF exam wherein she secured rank 81. Poonam Gupta is currently posted as PSO at the President's House. She also led the all-women contingent at the 74th Republic Day Parade. She has also served in Bihar's Naxal-affected zone. Her journey was full of trials and tribulence but she never backed off and was very dedicated throughout. Her story of sheer perseverance is a great example for all the young girls out there.
