This big project is a key aspect of the Worldmark Aerocity's $2.5 billion expansion plan. Its goal is to create India's first airport-centered metropolis, a special urban area built around the airport. This fresh idea is set to grow eight times bigger over the next five years, marking a significant change in how cities are developed.

Aerocity has big plans to transform the commercial scene, aiming to build over 10 million square feet by 2029 in two phases. Right now, it has 1.5 million square feet of space for lease, just a preview of what's to come. According to a Times of India article, there's a plan to expand the global business district by 6.5 million square feet, making a total of 18 million square feet available for lease. This expanded space will include offices, stores, food courts, a large mall, and public areas.

GMR's Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) chose Bharti Realty to develop Aerocity. Bharti Realty now holds the lease for Aerocity, matching DIAL's lease for airport construction and operations. State ownership remains unchanged.

Phase 2 is set to begin the next year and be completed by March 2027.

As per the Times of India, underground parking will be provided for over 8,000 vehicles.Currently, Aerocity boasts 11 hotels, such as JW Marriott, Accor Group, and Roseate, offering a total of 5,000 rooms.
