Union Home Minister Amit Shah "apologised" on Wednesday for his inability to speak the "world's oldest language" amid the controversy surrounding the purported imposition of Hindi in Tamil Nadu. Mr. Shah referred to the exceptional Maha Shivratri festivities taking place at the Isha Foundation in Coimbatore as "Bhakti ka Mahakumbh" (Maha Kumbh of dedication).
First of all, I want to express my regret for not being able to speak Tamil, the oldest language in the world. On this Maha Shivratri occasion, I offer my best wishes. At Sadhguru's invitation, I was given the chance to come here, and I am really thankful for that," Mr. Shah stated.
In Tamil Nadu, the government DMK has been against the National Education Policy 2020's three-language mandate. As the DMK has put it, this Hindi is a "imposition." Maha Shivratri is not just a festival but also a time for "self-awakening," according to Mr. Shah, who said that the whole country was engulfed in Shiv bhakti. The entire country is in "Shivmay" today, from Somnath to Kedarnath, Pashupatinath to Rameswaram, and Kashi to Coimbatore.
The 'Bhakti ka Mahakumbh' is taking place right in front of me in Coimbatore, while the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj is coming to an end. In addition to being a festival, Maha Shivratri is a time for self-discovery, according to the Union Home Minister. Mr. Shah praised Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, the founder of the Isha Foundation, saying that the location created by the spiritual leader was a place of devotion and emancipation in addition to being a haven for pilgrims.
The 112-foot statue of Adiyogi Shiva, he continued, aids in experiencing the 112 paths to spirituality. "The location you (Sadguru) constructed is a place of yoga, sadhana, devotion, repentance, and liberation in addition to being a place of pilgrimage. Through yoga, Isha Yoga Centre has improved the lives of many people.
The 112 paths to our spiritual journey are experienced and recognized by this statue of Adiyogi. To achieve 'Shivatva' is the ultimate goal of life, as we discover when we come here. "Isha Yoga Center has evolved into a conduit for young people to connect with the divine," Mr. Shah stated. Additionally, during the religious event at Isha Yoga Centre, the minister offered sacrifices to the 'Dhyanling'. Beginning at 6:00 PM on Wednesday and ending at 6:00 AM on Thursday, the Isha Yoga Centre is celebrating Maha Shivratri.
