The MI-17 helicopter, which was carrying the malfunctioning aircraft to the Gauchar airstrip, lost balance mid-air due to the heavy weight of the damaged helicopter. The pilot decided to release the faulty helicopter and drop it in an open valley. According to Rudraprayag Tourism official Rahul Chaubey, the defective helicopter had experienced a technical issue during landing on May 24 earlier this year and was being transported for repairs. It was dropped near the Tharu camp in Kedarnath.

Chaubey confirmed that there were no passengers or cargo on board the helicopter.

Rescue teams are currently on-site to evaluate the situation and check for any potential casualties. Chaubey has asked the public to avoid spreading rumors about the incident. "The plan was to transport the helicopter to the Gauchar airstrip for repairs using the Mi-17 aircraft.

However, after traveling a short distance, the Mi-17 began to lose balance due to the weight of the helicopter and wind conditions, forcing the pilot to drop the helicopter near Tharu camp. There were no passengers or cargo on the helicopter. The rescue team arrived promptly and is assessing the situation," he told ANI.
