On Thursday, July 18, two soldiers sustained injuries during a firefight with terrorists in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir. The clash began in the early hours at around 2 a.m. in Jaddan Bata village, located in the Kastigarh area, when terrorists launched an attack on security forces conducting a search operation, according to officials.

This encounter comes as part of a larger wave of violence in the Doda district, which had been free of terrorism since 2005 but has experienced a resurgence of attacks since June 12. On that date, six security personnel were injured in a terror strike at Chattergala Pass, and the following day, a firefight in Gandoh resulted in one policeman being hurt.

Following the attack on June 12, a significant search effort was initiated in Desa and the surrounding forest regions after a deadly confrontation on the night of July 15-16 claimed the lives of four army members, including a captain.

On June 26, a day-long operation in Gandoh area resulted in the deaths of three terrorists, and another encounter took place in the Ghadi Bhagwah forest on July 9.

Since the start of the year, a total of 27 individuals, including 11 security personnel, a village defense guard, and five terrorists, have been killed in almost a dozen terrorist incidents across six districts in the Jammu region.
