“We first went to R.G. Kar Hospital around 1:30 pm on August 8 and again around 11 pm for my brother’s medical needs. After that, we stopped by Sonagachhi and then Chetla, where we drank alcohol. We reached R.G. Kar Hospital again around 3 am. I suggested that Sanjay return to the barracks, but he refused. I went back to the barracks on my own,” the volunteer recounted.

According to him, Roy was supposed to accompany him to R.G. Kar Hospital on August 9 for his brother's treatment. However, Roy did not appear. The volunteer attempted to wake him around 10 am, and while Roy answered his call around 12:10 pm, he continued to avoid going to the hospital. Even when informed of the incident, Roy appeared indifferent and in good spirits. By 2:30 pm, he had started drinking alcohol, the volunteer stated in a phone interview with the media.
