Facing Doctor's Rape-Murder, Trinamool MP Adds Personal Touch to Protest

Senior Trinamool Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sukhendu Sekhar Ray has announced his intention to participate in the midnight protest concerning the rape and murder of a 31-year-old doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. 

Ray revealed his plans via a post on X, stating, "Tomorrow, I will join the protesters, driven by my personal connections as a father and grandfather, like countless Bengali families. We must address this issue head-on. The cruelty against women must end. Let us unite in resistance, no matter the cost."

In response to a user on X who expressed concern that his participation might lead to expulsion from Trinamool Congress, Ray asserted, "Do not worry about my future. I carry the legacy of a freedom fighter and am not concerned about such threats."

Ray, who has served as a member of the Upper House of Parliament since 2011 and held the position of Deputy Leader of the Trinamool Congress in the House, is committed to this cause despite potential repercussions.
