Stock markets will be open for trading on Saturday, February 1, when Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presents the Union Budget, as per the announcements from the BSE and NSE on Monday.
Basically, stock markets are closed off on Saturdays and Sundays, except under special circumstances.
Ms. Sitharaman will unleash the Union Budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year on 1st of February. In separate notices, the BSE and NSE have given the confirmation that the stock markets will be open for trading on that Saturday because of the Union Budget.
Trading will continue during regular hours, from 9:15 am to 3:30 pm. The markets were open on Saturday too, February 1, 2020, and, February 28, 2015, when earlier Union Budgets were presented.
As the Budget presentation time was shifted from 5 pm to 11 am in 2001, markets have been kept open during their standard hours on Budget presentation days.
