The Board Of Control for Cricket in India announced the fixtures of the 14th Indian Premier League (IPL) yesterday.
The defending champions Mumbai Indian will be featuring in the inaugural match of the 14th edition. They will be facing Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 9, after that, they will be facing Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
MI will be having three-afternoon games in the upcoming IPL edition, those fixtures will be against Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals. Their last league game will be against Delhi Capitals, on May 23. The five-time IPL winners will be having five games in Chennai, four in Delhi, two in Kolkata and three in Bangalore.
MI wasn’t much active in the IPL 2021 auction. They got Nathan Coulter-Nile back on a reasonable contract and acquired a few overseas players like Jimmy Neesham, Adam Milne and Marco Jansen. They also went with the experienced Indian leg-spinner, Piyush Chawla. A few questions were raised when they bought Arjun Tendulkar for the base price of 20 Lakh. It was later revealed by the MI officials that they considered occupying Tendulkar on the basis of his all-round abilities with the ball and bat.
