Mumbai City FC played ATK Mohun Bagan yesterday at the GMC Stadium for a crucial Indian Super League game. The highly anticipated game commenced at 7:30 PM IST as the outcome of the fixture would have revealed the team going to the AFC Championship.
Mumbai City FC came out victorious as they clinched the game by a scoreline of 2-0. Goals from Mourtada Fall and Bartholomew Ogbeche sealed the game for their team which helped them win the ISL league stage.
Fall initiated the first goal of the night early in the game in the seventh minute itself and gave a comprehensive lead to his team. Ogbeche doubled the lead in the 39th minute and went 2-0 up in the game even before half-time. The ISL table toppers before yesterday’s fixture ATK Mohun Bagan couldn’t manage to breach Mumbai’s defence and remained goalless throughout the game.
Mumbai City FC only managed to take 10 shots out of which two were right on the target while ATK Mohun Bagan took 17 shots they could only manage to hit two on the target. ATK Mohun Bagan had the possession of 54% while Mumbai City FC only had 46%, still, the latter managed to score a couple of goals.
After this game, the two teams end the league stage with equal points but due to a higher goal difference Mumbai City FC has acquired the number one position and also advancing to the AFC Championship.
