Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan's starrer is a tale based on true events, about a man and his constant pursuit to defeat death. The film comprises a complex plot blended with dark humour.
Director Shoojit Sircar based this story on the life of one of his friends who faced cancer and multiple surgeries associated with it and faced it all with a smile. His focus in the entire film was to show that death comes for all, but one should not give up on life and its joy. His direction, for most parts, was impressive, but there were scenes when his vision felt a bit lost.
The movie stands as proof that Abhishek Bachchan is made for such complex roles. His acting throughout the film undoubtedly was the best thing to watch. He was able to land all the jokes as a Bengali man who knows how to convince the people around him.
Ahilya Bamroo as the daughter of Arjun was phenomenal, she was able to deliver as the stubborn daughter who grows up in a separated household and chooses to stand by her stubborn father. Even Johny Lever, who had very little screen time was a delight to watch everything he appeared.
While the story was strong and impactful the first half feels stretched and long but the second half is the complete opposite. This 180 change in the pace is a bit frustrating to watch. Apart from that, too much was tried to cover in the film, especially in the second half.
Even though the film shares a good message, and has great direction, watching the film in a theatre is not a must, fan can wait for it to come on OTT to enjoy it.
