Devara Movie Review: Jr. NTR, Saif Ali Khan's High-Octane Action Is a Pure Masala Entertainer

Devara starring Jr. NTR, Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan released on September 27, and it was an action pact film. The film has received mixed reactions from the public, while some have absolutely loved it, others felt the climax could have been better.

Talking about the storyline, the first half of the film was engaging and the plot took time to develop and was quite interesting to watch. But the plot got lost while it reached the climax and it became quite predictable. Jr. NTR is glorified as a god and the film completely justifies this image of his created.

Jr. NTR is great in action sequences, he is smooth and delivers these scenes with great power, completely fits the theme of action of the film. Saif Ali Khan as Bhairav brings depth to the villain’s arc, he is powerful and equally dangerous and proves his versatility once again. And the chemistry between Jr. NTR and Saif Ali Khan, and the good and bad makes you hooked to the plot. Janhvi Kapoor was good but had little screen time, but looking at her filmography, one can say that she had much more potential and so much could have been done with her character.

The cinematography of the Devara was great and quite pleasant to watch, but VFX needed a bit more improvement. The dialogues were well written and powerful and the dubbing did not take away anything from the essence of the film. The background music became monotonous after a while, and took away from the intensity of the scenes, but the songs were a good breakaway.

The overall direction and screenplay was good, with an engaging storyline but the climax could have been better with some plot twist. All in all, the film does justice as an action pact film, but lacks in storyline.
