If you think that Wanda Maximoff is the witch that made Marvel release a witchy show this year, then you’re wrong because it was Agatha All Along. Starting from a side character to the villain in the same show and then to becoming the lead in her own show, Agatha made it, she really did.
The show aired its first 2 episodes on 18 September and took the world with a wind. By the end of the second episode, the ‘Ballad of the Witches’ Road’ made it up to everyone’s spotify playlist and the world building got everyone hooked to the show.

The show centred around the selfish witch Agatha Harkness who discovers she lost all her powers after escaping from the magic of the Scarlet witch that trapped her in a hex for three years. She, along with a mysterious boy, named ‘Teen’ decides to build a coven of misfits to walk the witches’ road that promises to reward what they seek at the end.
The introduction of all the witches, i.e. Lilia, Alice, Rio and Jennifer are very brief yet impactful, however their personalities uncovers with trials in each episode. Agatha Harkness played by Kathryn Hahn continues being a fan favourite and a queer icon in the show, as it presents her as the love interest of another witch Rio Vidal played by Aubrey Plaza. But if that wasn’t queer enough, Heartstopper star Joe Locke’s character Teen is a emo queer guy with a boyfriend, making them the first gay couple in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
As of Episode 5, we have reached the midpoint of the show and it broke the internet for good. From the death of Alice to the reveal of Teen being Wiccon, Billy Maximoff, son of the Scarlet Witch Wanda Maximoff.
The beauty of the show was to subtly turn the narrative as we reached the end of episode 5. The life-size sets of the witches' road, makes the viewing experience more immersive and interesting, while the costume choices for each trail brings in nostalgia all people of all age group.
Showrunner Jac Schaeffer has done a remarkable job at recreating the magic she did with her last show, Wandavision. Each episode targets a issue that can be related in real life. From generational trauma to low self-esteem, the show has encapsulated it well. And with all the magic and Witchcraft, music was all that was needed and music director Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson Lopez, elevated each scene with their epic scores.
As of Episode 5 all the members of the coven are in grave danger and we have to wait till Thursday to find out what happened. And so far, it has proven to be both a spooky and kooky show, where both the horror and comedy walk together down the road.
Agatha all along can be streamed on Disney Hotstar and new episodes come every Thursday at 12:30 PM.
