Some individuals date without the intention of getting married for reasons that may seem a bit ridiculous but are rooted in personal desires or societal pressures. One of the most common yet weird reasons is the desire to experience "fun" or "excitement" without any long-term commitments. Another quirky reason is the “practice relationship” mindset, where people date just to learn about what they want or don’t want in a partner. Whereas, for some, dating becomes a series of trial runs, often leading to dating just for the experience, with no real end goal of tying the sacred knot.

Furthermore, some may date out of boredom or loneliness but have no intention of progressing toward marriage. They enjoy the company of the other person, yet the idea of lifelong commitment seems too difficult or impractical. Another ridiculous reason might be to simply have someone to bring to social events or family gatherings—without any real emotional investment—just to avoid feeling lonely in life.
