LOONA made an history by appering for the first time with its MV “Star” on Billboard Pop Airplay chart.
Its very difficult for any k-pop artist to get on this particular as the songs that rank on this weekly chart are those that have been getting the most airplay on American radio.
Till now only a few K-pop groups like BLACKPINK, BTS, and MONSTA X had made on this chart and now LOONA becomes the second girl group and fourth overall K-Pop group to rank on the Pop Airplay chart.
“Star” was debuted on the chart on February 6, ranked at #40 on the 40 song list. While it seemed likes that it would likely drop off from the chart after a week as it was at the end of the chart, but luckly it actually rose in the following week, and eventually peaked at #31 during its time on it.
Even though the song dropped on the chart from #33 to #38 this week it made a great achievement by slowly making it on the list, the fact that it stayed on it again this week has led the group to make history.
“Star” has now spent a total of 8 weeks on the Pop Airplay list, which is the same number of weeks that BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez‘s “Ice Cream” made previously.
It seems like it will drop off from the list next week, but there is always possibility that they won’t. If this group manages to stay on the list even one more time it will surpass BLACKPINK’s “Ice Cream” and make a new record for K-Pop girl groups to reach.
It is just the beginning of their achievement
