South Korean actress Lee Seo-Yi, known for her role in The Divorce Insurance, passed away on June 20 at the age of 43. The news came as a shock to fans and the entertainment industry, and was confirmed by her manager through a heartfelt post on her official Instagram account.
In the statement, her manager wrote, “A radiant, beautiful, kind-hearted sister became a star in the sky on June 20. I share this news with deep sorrow.” The post went on to say, “I know many of you will be shocked and heartbroken by this sudden news. Please pray for her so she may rest in a peaceful and beautiful place. I am posting this on behalf of her mother and father.”
Lee Seo-Yi, whose birth name was Song Soo-yeon, died under undisclosed circumstances. As of now, the family has chosen not to reveal the cause of death. Over the years, she took on supporting and guest roles in dramas like City of the Sun, Bravo My Life, Romance Special Law, and Pegasus Market.
In films, her work included roles in Killing Romance (with Lee Hae Nee, Lee Sun Kyun, Gong Myung), The King (featuring Zo In Sung and Ryu Jun Yeol), The Royal Traitor (with Han Seok Kyu, Park Shin Hye, and Ma Dong Seok), and Scarlet Innocence (starring Jung Woo Sung and Esom).
Outside of her acting career, Lee was known for her academic background and creative interests. She studied Czech and Slovak at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies and pursued further studies at Pusan National University.
