Kim Soo Hyun Seeks Extension in ₩12 Billion Lawsuit Against Late Kim Sae Ron’s Family and YouTube Channel

Actor Kim Soo Hyun has filed for an extension to pay court fees related to his ₩12 billion KRW (approximately $8.16 million USD) lawsuit against the bereaved family of the late actress Kim Sae Ron and the YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute. The Seoul Central District Court had previously ordered him to correct recognition and delivery fees, amounting to about ₩38 million KRW (around $26,700 USD), but as of April 16, he had not completed the payment. 

The lawsuit stems from the unauthorized release of a private photo of Kim Soo Hyun, allegedly taken during his relationship with Kim Sae Ron. The photo, which was broadcasted by Garosero Research Institute, reportedly showed the actor in a compromising situation. Gold Medalist, Kim Soo Hyun’s agency, stated that the distribution of such images constitutes a violation of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes. 

Initially, Gold Medalist refrained from taking legal action against Kim Sae Ron’s family out of respect for the late actress. However, the agency decided to proceed with the lawsuit due to concerns about potential future violations and the need to protect the actor’s reputation.
