Park Min Young is stepping into a bold new role — and this time, it's with Amazon Prime Video. On May 26, the platform officially confirmed that it’s producing its first-ever Korean original drama titled The Confidence Man KR (working title), with Park Min Young playing the lead.
Do you know it's a Korean Twist on a Japanese Hit
The new drama is based on the Japanese series The Confidence Man JP, a light-hearted crime comedy that gained popularity for its clever schemes and sharp characters. The Korean version will follow a trio of con artists who use their unique skills to take down shady figures from all kinds of backgrounds.
Park Min Young will play Yoon Yi Rang, the mastermind behind the group. Her character is described as a sharp and intelligent leader with a genius-level mind — someone who can read situations quickly and lead her team through complicated scams. It’s a role that promises to show a different side of the actress.
A New Milestone for Park Min Young and K-Content
The production company HIGROUND shared their thoughts on the significance of this project. A representative stated, “Having Park Min Young star in an Amazon original drama is not only a major achievement for the actress herself but also sets a new milestone in the history of K-content.”
They added, “It is a recognition of Park Min Young’s value as a global actress who transcends Korea to reach audiences worldwide. We ask for your great interest and support for ‘The Confidence Man KR,’ the first Korean original content selected and produced by global OTT platform Amazon.”
Filming Completed and is set to Premiere in Late 2025
The 12-episode series began filming in September 2024 and recently wrapped up production. While a specific release date hasn’t been announced yet, The Confidence Man KR is expected to premiere in the second half of 2025.
