Karan Johar recently grabbed attention at The Traitors event, but not just for hosting the reality show. When he praised Amazon Prime Video's hit series lineup, fans quickly noticed that he skipped one very popular title, The Family Man.
And that left many wondering: Was it just an oversight or a quiet nod to an old feud?
While Karan mentioned several top Prime Video originals, The Family Man, led by veteran actor Manoj Bajpayee, didn’t get a single mention. Considering the show’s massive success and cultural impact, the absence stood out.
It appears that the omission is linked to the long-standing tensions between Karan and Manoj.
According to reports, things first went sour between Karan and Manoj’s family years ago. It all allegedly began when Karan offered a role to Manoj’s wife, Shabana Raza. She turned it down and Karan, reportedly upset, snapped back with a cutting remark:
“You people who come from outside will be just flukes.”
The statement, if true, reflects a pattern that critics of Karan have often pointed out ,his supposed bias toward Bollywood insiders.
Fast forward to later years, and things didn’t seem to improve. Manoj reportedly declined a role from Karan’s Dharma Productions, after which a staff member allegedly spoke to him in a disrespectful manner. Whether or not Karan himself was involved, the fallout lingered.
Another point to note is that Manoj Bajpayee has never been invited to Karan’s talk show Koffee With Karan. Given the show’s history of featuring industry heavyweights and popular stars, the absence of a National Award-winning actor like Manoj hasn’t gone unnoticed.
While there’s been no official comment from either side about the incident at The Traitors event, the omission of The Family Man has certainly reignited the chatter.
Whatever the truth may be, it’s clear that in Bollywood, old stories tend to resurface especially when they’re tied to big names and silent tensions.
