There was some relief for Varun Dhawan, Sanjay Dutt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha and Madhuri Dixit starrer Kalank as it held well on its first Tuesday at the box office.
Kalank is tumbling down with each passing day due to the negative word-of-mouth. The Abhishek Verman directed Kalank took a big fall on its first weekday which is alarming as it might not even recover its cost. Kalank opened to a record breaking opening with Rs 21.60 crores on Wednesday due to Mahavir Jayanti holiday. There was a drop of 47% on Thursday as it was a normal working day, collecting Rs 11.45 crores. Kalank showed slight growth on Friday minting Rs 11.60 crores inspite of Good Friday holiday. The collections on Saturday went further down with Rs 9.75 crores but grew slightly on Sunday with Rs 11.63 crores. There was a big crash on Monday with Rs 4.02 crores.
As per early trade estimates, the earnings went further down but the downfall was better as compared to the other days on Tuesday with Rs 3.66 crores, bringing the seven days total to Rs 73.71 crores which is definitely not a good sign since the drama is made on a huge budget of Rs 150 crores (Production Cost: 120 Crore, Prints & Advertising Cost: 30 Crore) and the trade was expecting atlaest 75 crores from its first weekend collections.
Released in 4000 screens, Kalank is presented by Fox Star Studios and produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar, Sajid Nadidwala and Apoorva Mehta under the banner of Dharma Productions and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. Kalank has just 2 days left before the most awaited movie of the world, Avengers:End Game, arrives.
