After a disappointing first week at the ticket, the Varun Dhawan, Sanjay Dutt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha and Madhuri Dixit starrer Kalank crashed and burn as it started its second week.
Kalank opened to a record breaking opening with Rs 21.60 crores on Wednesday due to Mahavir Jayanti holiday. There was a crash on Thursday as it was a normal working day, collecting Rs 11.45 crores. Though Kalank showed slight growth on Friday minting Rs 11.60 crores due to Good Friday holiday, the collections on Saturday went further down with Rs 9.75 crores. The growth on Sunday was minimal with Rs 11.63 crores followed by a big crash on Monday with Rs 4.02 crores. On Tuesday, the earnings held well with Rs 3.66 crores with another good hold on Wednesday with Rs 3.26 crores but it went down on Thursday with 3 crores, bringing the first week collections to Rs 80 crores.
As per early trade estimates, the multi-starrer drama tumbled on second Friday with Rs 1 crores, bringing the 10 days total to Rs 81 crores. However, Kalank made on a huge budget of Rs 150 crores (Production Cost: 120 Crore, Prints & Advertising Cost: 30 Crore) which will prove it to be a big disaster.
Released in 4000 screens, Kalank is presented by Fox Star Studios and produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar, Sajid Nadidwala and Apoorva Mehta under the banner of Dharma Productions and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. Kalank will face the most awaited movie of the world, Avengers:End Game, which arrives today.
