K-Pop Stylist Reveals Shocking Truth About Idol Outfit Sizing

The glamorous world of K-Pop often hides harsh realities, and a recent revelation by a veteran stylist has sparked concern among fans. Jeong Seol, a stylist with over 22 years of experience, shared shocking insights about the sizing of female idols’ outfits in a recent online discussion.

Jeong Seol explained that most girl group outfits are designed in a single size, typically around a size 24 (XS). She showcased a skirt during the discussion, stating:

"This skirt, for example, is about a size 44 (XS)? 23? 24? It won’t be more than a size 24, this one."

For idols who are naturally thin, the situation is even more extreme. These outfits often need to be resized to an even smaller size, such as 33 (XXS).

Jeong Seol added:
"Girls who are naturally thin have to adjust the sizing to about a 33, XS to wear it."

This isn’t the first time the industry’s beauty standards have been questioned. Former SISTAR member Soyou previously revealed the sacrifices required to maintain such physiques:

"This type of physique can only come from not eating and exercising more."

Similarly, KARA’s Seungyeon highlighted the physical toll of meeting these expectations. Reflecting on her weight struggles, she said:
"When I gained the most weight, I weighed 46 KG. Then I almost fainted after losing 4 KG from that weight."

Korean netizens expressed disbelief at the sizing of these outfits, questioning how such standards could be sustainable or healthy. Comments on social media pointed to the harmful pressures idols face to fit into these clothes and maintain unrealistic body standards.
