Suzy Opens Up About Her Rebellious Behavior in 'Doona!'

In the hit Netflix series 'Doona!', Suzy took on a role that defied expectations, portraying the emotionally unstable character Lee Doo Na. This character's journey, marked by rebellious behaviour, garnered significant attention and sparked discussions among fans.

However, Suzy explained that these unconventional choices were essential to the role and held deep symbolism. In an interview with TV Report, she shared her perspective, saying, "I honestly felt really refreshed by the set-up of an idol smoking so openly. I felt that it showed a really human side [of idols]. I think smoking was a tool to express Doo Na’s loneliness. That’s why when she was dating Won Jun, she cut down on smoking but started again when she got insecure. I think how Doona feels can be seen through her smoking."

Suzy also addressed the character's clothing choices, which often veered towards short and uncomfortable outfits. She explained that these fashion choices were a means to express Doo Na's unstable emotions, saying, "This is another tool through which Doona’s unstable emotions are expressed. I thought that it hints at how lonely and cold she felt."

While Suzy faced some initial criticism for her portrayal of the character smoking, she ultimately received acclaim for her performance. It's possible that her wholesome public image initially influenced the perception of these scenes.
