Song Joong Ki Opens Up About His Wife and her Family Background

Actor Song Joong Ki recently shared a rare insight into his wife’s family background during the press preview of his upcoming movie, Bogota: City of the Lost.

Held in Gangnam, Seoul, on December 19, the event included a special interview where Song addressed questions about the film and its portrayal of Colombia.

When asked if the movie risked portraying Bogotá as a crime-centric city, Song revealed a personal connection to the country. He said, “My mother-in-law is Colombian. Many of my wife’s family lives there.” This marked the first time Song openly discussed his in-laws since marrying British actress Katy Louise Saunders in 2023.

Song shared his positive experiences in Colombia, recalling, “The Colombia I lived in was full of excitement, passion, and crazy food. It was so delicious.” He also highlighted the country’s efforts to move past its crime-heavy image, saying, “I saw people’s efforts to get away from that kind of an image.”

The actor’s comments provided a rare glimpse into his private life. Since their marriage, Song and Katy have welcomed two children, a son and a daughter. 

Bogota: City of the Lost tells the story of immigrants navigating a risky life to survive in Bogotá. The film is set for release on December 31 and promises an engaging narrative with Song Joong Ki in the lead role.
