Toco’s transformation involved commissioning a specialized model and sculpture company, Zeppet, to craft a highly realistic rough collie costume. After 40 days and an investment of 2 million yen (approximately $15,700 USD), his canine persona was complete. Documenting his journey on YouTube, Toco shared his experience of training to mimic the behavior of a real dog.
For Toco, becoming an animal was a cherished childhood dream. He finds joy in embracing activities and behaviors typically associated with dogs, which he now enjoys freely as part of his daily life.
Despite achieving his lifelong ambition, Toco admits to harboring concerns about societal acceptance. He confesses that he rarely shares his unconventional lifestyle with friends, fearing they may perceive him as eccentric. Both friends and family expressed surprise upon learning about his transformation into a canine persona.
While Toco grapples with societal judgment, he finds solace and encouragement within his online community. Supporters regularly leave positive and affirming comments, offering him a sense of belonging and acceptance.
Toco’s story underscores the diverse ways individuals pursue happiness and self-expression. As he continues to navigate his unique path, his journey prompts reflection on the boundaries of personal identity and societal norms.
