After so many questions and confusions Ishant and Rohit Sharma have been ruled out of the first two tests in the India tour of Australia. The test series starting from 17 December at Adelaide Cricket Ground will have 4 test matches. Both the Indian players Rohit and Ishant are going under rehabilitation at National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
There were again discussions started from past few days over Rohit and Ishant’s arrival in Australia as they have to face 14 days quarantine period in Australia. Also their fitness related queries are creating buzz in cricket circle. Yesterday Ravi Shastri said in the interview that the duo have to travel soon if they want to play the test series in Australia starting from 17 December. If they don’t travel in next 3-4 days it will be difficult and not sure if they can play in the games.
BCCI announced that both Ishant and Rohit are ruled out of the first two tests and they are in for the next twos. Ishant is quite fit for the bowling but his bowling workload is steadily increasing while Rohit is recovered from the injury but not totally fit to play test matches. BCCI said about Ishant, “If there is a T20 game and he needs to bowl only 4 overs, Ishant is good to go immediately, but for him to get back to test match fitness, he needs four weeks of proper bowling still.”
It’s clear that the duo will no matter travel to Australia for the test series, but only for the last the last two games means third and fourth test. Third test match is starting in the New Year that is from 7January. If Rohit and Ishant travel Australia on the earliest possible date that is 8 December if will be still difficult for them to get back on field. As they have to be in a strict 14 days quarantine period till 22. Ann then they have to practice for at least few weeks.
