One of the two popular and strong T20 franchise lead by India’s cricket stars will face against each other on the IPL opener on Friday, April 9 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai at 7:30 PM IST.
India is facing second covid-19 wave in the country and still BCCI is willing to organize 14th edition of World’s most popular T20 tournament; Indian Premier League. IPL will be played on 6 different venues in India and no team will get home ground this year.
While in the IPL opener defending champions Mumbai Indians will face King Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore. But the teams are still in question as RCB recently got another heartbroken story that All-rounder Daniel Sams tested positive for Covid-19 in his second test after his arrival in India.
Previously Devdutt Paddikal also got tested positive for the virus but recently RCB tweeted the news that Paddikal has recovered from his strain and tested negative on Wednesday. On the other hand, Mumbai Indias squad is facing difficult fearful situation as their homeground, Wankhede Stadium full staff has tested positive for the virus and Team has been on the ground around a week for training.
As there are less chances for Padikkal to play first few matches, Mohammed Azaruddin will take his place for the opening spot. On the other hand Chris Lynn will take place of Quinton De Kock who is unavailable.
Glenn Maxwell, Kyle Jamieson and Josh Phillipe are likely to make debuts for RCB in IPL. While Nathan Coulter Nile will pair up with Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult; Piyush Chawla can also make debut for Mumbai Indians.
