In the 12th match of the Indian Premier League, Chennai Super Kings played Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai at 7:30 PM IST. CSK won the match by 45 runs and claimed those two crucial points.

Rajasthan Royals won the toss and chose to bowl against Chennai Super Kings in Mumbai. CSK had a shaky start to their inning with the bat as Ruturaj Gaikwad departed early in the fourth over of the match. Faf du Plessis (33) started attacking the RR bowlers and had a small partnership of 21 along with Moeen Ali (26) which kept the scoreboard ticking in the first six overs. In the powerplay, Chennai managed to score 46 at the loss of two wickets. Ali was striking the ball well on the leg side, after smashing a couple of sixes, the southpaw was finally caught at the deep by Riyan Parag in the 10th over. After a couple of wickets, the run rate went down, Ambati Rayudu walked in to bat at number five and started dancing down the track against the spinners while smashing the Rajasthan bowlers. Rayudu’s cameo of 27 was decorated with three maximums before the batsman hit the ball straight to Parag, on Chetan Sakariya’s over. Raina also departed in the same over as Rayudu when the southpaw drove the ball straight into Chris Morris’ hands. Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja couldn’t do much damage with the bat. Dhoni was caught by Jos Butler on Sakariya’s bowling while Jadeja was caught behind the stumps on Morris’ delivery. Sam Curran (13) and Dwayne Bravo (20) finished the innings well for CSK which helped them to set up a target of 189 for Rajasthan.
With the ball, Ali was the pick of the bowlers for CSK as the all-rounder pocketed three wickets each while Curran and Jadeja grabbed two wickets. Shardul Thakur and Bravo got one wicket to their name.

RR fell short of the target by 45 runs with Jos Butler being the best batsman in the team with scoring 49. CSK won their second match of the game and registered a total of four points on the points table. Ali was the man of the match for his three wickets with the ball and 26 runs with the bat.
