Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's eleventh-hour effort to influence voters seems unsuccessful. The Conservatives cautioned that choosing Labour would result in increased taxes.

Under Keir Starmer's leadership, the Labour Party currently leads with 221 seats, while Rishi Sunak's party has secured only 36. A majority in the 650-member House of Commons requires 326 seats for victory.

The final results are expected to be announced by 11:30 am (IST).

According to the official election exit poll, Labour is projected to secure 410 seats, marking their largest victory since Tony Blair's landslide in 1997, and anticipating a majority of 170 seats. Over the past six UK elections, only one exit poll has failed to accurately predict the outcome. Official results will be disclosed gradually over the next few hours.

Sunak's Tories are expected to plummet to 131 seats, marking their most dismal performance ever and potentially leading to the ousting of some of the party's prominent figures from Parliament. The Liberal Democrats and Nigel Farage's populist Reform UK are also poised to make significant gains.

He faces formidable challenges ahead, including slow economic growth, strained and underfunded public services as a result of extensive cuts spanning the past fourteen years, and financial pressures on households.
