Elon Musk criticizes Kamala Harris for her remarks about Trump, calling it a "falsehood."

Elon Musk, the owner of social media platform X, criticized US Vice President Kamala Harris on Monday for "misrepresenting" former President Donald Trump's position on abortion bans.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, Harris claimed that Trump, who is competing against Joe Biden in the upcoming US presidential election, "intended to enforce a nationwide ban on abortion." She also pledged that she and Biden would use "every means available" to thwart his efforts and restore women's reproductive rights.

However, her post was flagged with a community note, a feature on X that allows users to collaboratively provide context to potentially misleading statements.

The community note on her post stated that "President Trump has consistently stated he will not sign a nationwide abortion ban."

Musk then criticized Harris, stating, "When will politicians, or at least the person managing their account, realize that spreading falsehoods on this platform doesn't succeed anymore?"

 

The billionaire accompanied his comment with a screenshot of her post displaying the community note.

When will politicians, or at least the staffer managing their account, understand that spreading falsehoods on this platform is ineffective? Musk pointed out that Trump has "explicitly stated he would not pursue such measures," as affirmed during the recent US Presidential debate with Biden.

The issue of abortion bans in the US has been a focal point in the presidential campaign between Biden, a Democrat, and Trump, his Republican rival.

After the US Supreme Court overturned the landmark Roe v. Wade decision in 2022, which had guaranteed nationwide abortion rights, the regulation of abortion was left to individual states.
