Washington: A CNN poll conducted by SSRS, an independent research organization, indicates that a significant majority of American voters believe Vice President Kamala Harris had a stronger performance than Donald Trump during Tuesday's presidential debate. Among viewers, 63% favored Harris over Trump's 37% in terms of performance.

Prior to the debate, a poll by The New York Times and Siena College had suggested a very close race between the two candidates. Following the debate, 96% of Harris supporters who watched believed she had the superior performance, while only 69% of Trump supporters felt the same about their candidate.

Harris reportedly provoked her opponent into emotional reactions on various topics including abortion and foreign policy. In response, Trump claimed it was his "best debate," despite contrary findings from the flash polls. Harris' campaign has proposed a second debate in October. This represents a notable change from the June debate involving President Joe Biden, where polls showed Trump leading 67% to 33% over his opponent.

It should be noted that these polls reflect the opinions of debate viewers rather than the broader public sentiment. Additionally, after the debate, the vice president received an endorsement from pop icon Taylor Swift.
