On August 16, the winners of the 70th National Film Awards were announced. The winners of these awards will be honoured by President Droupadi Murmu at a ceremony in October 2024. These awards also include cash prizes.

On August 16, the winners of the 70th National Film Awards were announced. These awards celebrate films that were certified by the Censor Board between January 1 and December 31, 2022. The winners of these awards will be honoured by President Droupadi Murmu at a ceremony in October 2024, alongside the receivers of the esteemed Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

These awards also include cash prizes. The most prestigious cinematic awards, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, comes with a cash prize of ₹15 lakh. Followed by this, the winners of the Swarna Kamal, or golden lotus award receive a cash prize of ₹3 lakh. And lastly, the Rajat Kamal or silver lotus award winners receive ₹2 lakh across. These awards and cash prizes are bestowed across various categories.

List of Swarna Kamal Award winners, receiving Rs.3 lakh cash prize:

1. Best Film: Attam, Directed by Anand Ekarshi, Produced by Ajith Joy

2. Best Debut Film of a Director: Fouja Directed by Pramod Kumar

3. Best Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment:  Kantara, Produced by Vijay Kiragandur, Directed by Rishab Shetty

4. Best Direction: Uunchai Directed by Sooraj Barjatya

5. Best Film in AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comic): Brahmastra-Part 1: Shiva, Produced by Dharma Productions, Prime Focus, Starlight Pictures; Directed by Ayan Mukerji)

1. Best Actor: Rishab Shetty for Kantara

3. Best Actor in a Supporting Role: Pavan Raj Malhotra for Fouja 

4. Best Actress in a Supporting Role: Neena Gupta for Uunchai

5. Best Male Playback Singer: Arijit Singh for Kesariya in Brahmastra-Part 1: Shiva

The National Awards were first given out in 1954. During those years, only the best films from various regional languages were recognized and awarded. The awards for actors and technicians working on the movie were first presented in 1967. Nargis became the first actor to win Best Actress for her role in 'Raat Aur Din' and Uttam Kumar received Best Actor awards for 'Antony Firingee and Chiriyakhana' in the same year.
