The Indian team will be missing the services of Jasprit Bumrah in the fourth Test match against England due to personal reasons, BCCI confirmed.
After being rested in the second Test match, the 27-year-old bowler had returned to India’s playing XI for the Day-Night Test in Ahmedabad but he was allowed to bowl only six overs in the first innings of the match on a pitch that highly favoured the spinners. The prime India bowler will be concluding the series with just four wickets to his name in 48 overs he bowled across two Test matches.
Mohammed Siraj is likely the number one contender to take Bumrah’s spot. The hosts have the luxury of calling the experienced Umesh Yadav who passed the fitness test and was added to the squad after recovering from a calf injury that he picked up in the Australian tour.
India is currently leading the four-match bilateral series against England with 2-1 and just need to avoid a defeat in the fourth match to be eligible to face New Zealand in the World Test Championship final at the Lord’s.
