The third session of day 3 belonged to the Aussies as they scored 103 runs in 29 overs at the loss of two wickets. Australia lead by 196 runs.
The Aussie openers, David Warner (13) and Will Pucovski (10) walked in to bat in the final session of day 3. The opening pair couldn’t last long as the Indian seamers struck early in the third innings. Pucovski fell prey to Mohammed Siraj when the opener was caught behind the stumps in the 6th over. Warner looked good with his defence but couldn’t continue his innings as the southpaw was struck in front of the stumps while sweeping Ravichandran Ashwin. Warner and Pucovski’s departure brought Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne to the crease.
Smith and Labuschagne looked comfortable against the Indian bowlers, stitched a partnership of 68 runs by the end of day 3 and the hosts will be expecting the two set batsmen to carry on the partnership to a big total tomorrow. For India, Siraj and Ashwin grabbed one wicket each. In the third session, 29 overs were bowled, 102 runs were scored at the loss of two wickets with a run rate of 3.55 runs per over.
