In the 3rd Test match of India tour of Australia, the hosts won the toss and chose to bat against the Indian team at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Australia 338/10, Steve Smith (131), Ravindra Jadeja (4/62). Second innings, day 3, first session, after 79 overs, India 180/4, Shubman Gill (50), Cheteshwar Pujara (42*), Rishabh Pant (29*), Pat Cummins (2/24). The first session of day 3 belonged to the Aussies as they grabbed two wickets and conceded 84 runs.

Ajinkya Rahane (22) and Chesteshwar Pujara walked into bat on day 3 of the Test match with a comfortable score on the board. The two set batsmen took their time in the early hours of the game in scoring the runs. Pat Cummins got Rahane early in the session in the 55th over when the skipper tried to cut the ball but edged the ball straight on to the stumps. The captain’s exit brought Hanuma Vihrai to the crease who played in the same fashion as Pujara. Vihari’s 38 ball stay at the crease only garnered four runs before the batsman fell short off his crease while taking a quick single. Rishabh Pant came to the crease at the fall of the fourth wicket.

Pant and Pujara conjured a partnership of 38 runs before lunch on day 3. The visitors must be looking forward to a big partnership between the two set batsmen. For Australia, Cummins pocketed two wickets with conceding 24 runs while Josh Hazlewood grabbed one. In the first session of day 3, 24 overs were bowled 84 runs were scored at the fall of two wickets.
