Today, Indian Cricket Team under skipper Virat Kohli won consecutive 10th series at home soil with winning the fourth and final Test match at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad against England. India seal the four match series by 3-1.
With this series win India got qualified for the final match of Inaugural World Test Championship which is scheduled to play in June 2021. New Zealand was already qualified for the final and second finalist was supposed to one from India, England and Australia, depends on the result of the India-England Test Series.
In the fourth match Indian team again showed terrific character and played from driving seat; from the day 1 India started owning the sessions and choking England batsmen. Indian bowlers restricted England on 205 runs in the first inning with Axar Patel taking 4 wickets and Ashwin taking 3.
Later on day 2 India faced a deep fall of wickets and England made a short comeback in the game but at the end of the day India’s savior Rishabh Pant slammed his 3rd Test career and bring back his team in the match.
India took magnificent lead of 160 runs by the end of their first innings with highest scorers Rishabh Pant 101 and Washington Sundar 96 who got bit unlucky to miss his maiden Test career ton. India scored 365 runs and got all-out on day 3.
Indian spinners Ashwin and Axar Patel striked stronger in the second innings while both celebrated their 5 wicket-hauls and destroyed England’s batting lineup on 135 runs.
Ravi Ashwin was awarded as the Man of the Series for taking highest wickets (32) while Joe Root becomes highest run scorer. Rishabh Pant becomes man of the match for scoring 101 runs and India won the match by 25 runs and an inning.
