India-Australia Day 3: ‘Sundar Domination’ By Indian Batters; Young Players Hits Their First Half-Centuries in Test Cricket

Indian part-time batsmen actually made one of the best bowling departments in the world struggle against them throughout the day. On the day 3 of the fourth and final Test match in Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India got all-out on 336 runs in their first innings while at the end of the day Australia lead India by 54 runs.

Earlier in the morning session Pujara and Rahane showed their Test cricket class; they put 50 runs partnership on board. But a massive wicket for Australia as Hazlewood manages to draw an outside edge with Paine doing the rest.

Mayank Agarwal came in and built a needed partnership with the skipper Rahane. Both scored 37 and 38 runs respectively. Rahane got out in the end of the first session while Agarwal got caught on the very second bowl of the second session. Washington Sundar came in and with Rishabh Pant both started building a partnership for India as an only recognized batsmen pair left.

Rishabh started his attacking mode and hit some boundaries for the sake of extra pressure; he scored 23 runs in 29 balls and got caught by Green following the delivery bowled by Hazlewood.

Nothing was left for the India rather than taking the inning as long as they can with a last pair of part-time batsmen Shardul Thakur and Washington Sundar.  With no expectations both stood up strong for India and surprisingly put highest 7th wicket partnership on board.

Washington Sundar scored 62 runs while Shardul Thakur scored 67 runs and became highest run-scorer of the innings. Both of them superbly dominated the Australian bowlers in throughout the second and third sessions of the day. Thakur got bowled by Cummins while Sundar got caught in Starc’s over.

Australia played 6 overs in the last few minutes and scored 21 runs without losing a wicket. Australia leads India by 54 runs at the end of the day.

IND 1st Inns- 336/10 (Thakur 67, Sundar 62, Hazlewood 24.4-57-5)
