MCU fans are quite eagle-eyed lot, yet they did not notice this particular mistake which was a big one. It involved Doctor Strange and it wasn’t noticed after the release of Avengers Endgame.
When Avengers Endgame was released the previous year, the Marvel fans tried to pick out the needle from the haystack, but they couldn’t. It seems that the Russo Brothers managed to pull off the film without any plothole issues. But wait, there are some goofy moments in the film that has the so-called continuity issues.
There are some plot holes in the movie, but we will focus on only one. It will go on to join the archives in the 20-odd films that are a part of the franchise.
During the time heist, the Avengers leave for three different missions to retrieve the Infinity Stones. But as expected, not everything happens as per the plan. Things go off -course in New York, but somehow The Hulk is successful in getting the Time Stone from the Ancient One.
Refusing to hand over the stone to him, the Ancient one says it is the “duty of the Sorcerer Supreme to protect the Time Stone”. However, she hands over the stone when Hulk says that Doctor Strange had handed it over to Thanos.
The ancient one says to Hulk,“Strange is meant to be the best of us.” accepting there must be a reason behind it. However, this instance does not connect with what we have seen in the origin story of Doctor Strange. Strange is refused to be taught by Kamar-Taj. But why does she do so?
She reveals the reason to Mordo in a private conversation,“Stubbornness. Arrogance. Ambition. I’ve seen it all before… I cannot lead another gifted student to power, only to lose him to the darkness.”Here Kamar-Taj is referring to the film’s villain Kaecilius.
Now the question arises if she was aware of Doctor Strange in 2012 when the Battle of New York happened, why did she refuse to teach him in 2016? This is the plot hole that we were talking about.
