Saqib’s message described Single Salma as a “personal” story about self-love and choosing yourself, while also acknowledging that the system isn’t always fair to smaller films that struggle to get enough screens or good time slots.
Industry reports suggest that Single Salma got caught in a dispute between its producers and major theatre chains over the Virtual Print Fee (VPF). The disagreement led to a restricted release, leaving the movie with minimal shows across the country.
The film, directed by Nachiket Samant, stars Huma Qureshi, Shreyas Talpade, and Sunny Singh. It follows a woman’s journey of finding self-acceptance and independence — a story that clearly resonated with viewers who couldn’t access it in theatres.
