SAG-AFTRA STRIKE: Know All About Who, When And Why!

Hollywood industry is going through its worst phase of times. A never seen scenario has occurred in the industry for the fisrt time in decades, Both the actors and the writers have come togather and are protesting for better contract. The main reason for the industry-wide strike of the actors and the writers follows a row about pay and the impact of artifical intelligence(AI) with major film productions and streaming services like Netflix, Warners Bros, NBC universal, Paramount, Amazon, and Disney,etc., that all fall under the umbrella of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP). 

SAG-AFTRA Strike has impacted the films and shows of the hollywood

The main people involved in the strike are The Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), the US unioun represents thousands of industry professionals,  The union, which has a membership of around 160,000 that includes actors, stunt co-ordinators, voiceover artist and backgroud actors and the Witers Guild of America(WGA) it is union that represents writers of films, television, radio and online. They have offically declared a strike on Thrusday. Its unioun first major member's strike in over 40 years. 

Several big hollywood stars have joined the strike the list of the actors includes Meryl Streep, Jenifer Lawrence and Ben Stiller, have previously expressed their support in favour of strike action if a deal with AMPTP could not be reached. Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt,Florence Pugh, and Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr, Sir Kenneth Branagh and Rami Malek, all walked out of the London premiere of upcoming blockbuster Oppenheimer.

This strike has impacted the films and shows of the hollywood. Actors have refused to shoot and promote their movies and the writers have also refused to work further. Future of hollywood film industry is at stake and time will only tell what conclusion will come  out  of it.
