The world is experiencing some worst situations in the year 2020. Taking from economic crisis to global pandemic and the environmental crisis we are facing it all. 16 September is observed as the World Ozone Day. The depletion of the Ozone layer is one of the major environmental issues. In the recent past earth is experiencing the rise in the atmospheric temperature. Climate change has become the global issue and world leaders should come together to tackle it.
As per the report in Bloomberg green Global average temperature is projected to be as much as 0.75C higher in 2020 than it was in 1980. And we have to collectively stop it to cross the mark of 1.5C. It is required that we bring it down to zero by the mid of this century. For that to happen we need to reduce the emission of carbon dioxide in the environment.
We are at the point where the coldest place on the globe is getting warmer due to the rising heat. This has resulted in the rise of sea levels. Also, we are facing the wrath of wildfire, Cyclones, and storms. According to Europe’s Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service, Arctic wildfires released the equivalent of 244 million metric tons of carbon dioxide from January to August, compared with 181 million tons for the whole year of 2019.
Zeke Hausfather, the director of climate and energy at the Breakthrough Institute says, “We’re running an experiment on our planet. If we continue to muddle through, there’s a risk that we might end up with a bad roll of the climate dice.”
Citizens across the globe should understand that by harming the environment and taking climate change on a serious note we are destroying humanity ourselves.
